Great effort last week on the Reading MAP Test! I am always so impressed with the how determined this class is to do their best!
This week we will work on writing personal narratives about a time when we were surprised. Our focus will be on how to identify and convry tone in our writing, as well as, using figurative language to make our writing more interesting for the reader. We are reading a personal narrative by Rosa Parks as an example and identifying these writing tools within the story as well. Students will type these narratives to make the editing process faster! My goal is to wrap up the personal narrative unit this week or next so we can move on to Unit 2, Early American Civilizations.
The vocabulary words for this week will come from the story we are reading.

This week in Math class students will be taking the Math MAP test! Students will test for 25 - 30 minutes each day. Afterwards, they will have a brain break before going to their next class. When discussing with students how to help them be successful during testing week, they shared knowing they will get a long break to play afterwards was helpful! If there is additional time, we will review multiply 2-digit by 2-digit numbers using area model, partial products, and regrouping. All students must be fluent is using regrouping because it is essential when we begin to multiply decimal numbers.
