Reading:

• describe the techniques and features of Renaissance art and architecture by quoting accurately from the text

• make inferences about Leonardo da Vinci’s ideas and accomplishments using evidence from the text

• make inferences about the artistic achievements of Michelangelo and Raphael using evidence from the text

Writing:

•  gather information about the techniques and features of Renaissance art and architecture by paraphrasing information in notes

Morphology:

• accurately read multisyllabic words with the prefixes im– and in– out of context

• use the prefixes im– and in– as clues to determine the meaning of words

Grammar:

• use the past tense to convey various times, sequences, states, and conditions

• recognize and correct inappropriate shifts in verb tense

Math: Mrs. Bennett

This week in Math class students will estimate and product of 2 fractions or a fraction and a mixed number when the factors do not lend themselves to drawing diagrams. Last week we focused on modeling fraction multiplication equations, but we will not focus on solving using the standard, where we turn all mixed numbers into improper and then cross reduce. We will be wrapping up this chapter in the next week or so, therefore we will be ready for a chapter test. Date TBD, but a study guide will be available well in advance! 

There is a group of students who has been focusing on adding/subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators, instead of multiplying fractions. This group will also be finishing up their unit and ready for a test next week as well! 

Homework:

*If your child is already on 100% fluency through their 12's facts on Reflex, there homework is to complete 1 IXL from their Math Skill Plan (80% of higher). If your child is not yet to 100% fluency, they will complete 3 Reflex Sessions. Both assignments are due Friday 3/14.

Social Studies: Mrs. Crush

Global Economics, Trade, Supply Chain, We Made a T-Shirt Planet Money Activity

Students will be working on an interactive and hands-on activity that will help students to master the concept of trade, supply chain, and production as it relates to economics and personal finance. Students will use the Planet Money video series "We Made a T-Shirt" to track the complete production of making a graphic t-shirt from growing the cotton to shipping to a store near you. Students will then choose a product of their own to track and understand how it is created and possibly shipped to their homes. 

The students are also working on their research projects on various topics. They are working on these in both Social Studies and Technology. Due Date: TBA. 

Religion: Mrs. Crush

Students are watching their Saints Madness iMovies and learning about several saints each day. They take notes about each saint and use that information to complete a Google Form that determines who advances. 

Important Announcements:

• 3rd Trimester Service Hours and Reflections: Each student is asked to complete two service hours, with at least two different experiences per trimester. Their 2nd Trimester Service Hours and Reflections are due Wednesday, May 14. This will be complete on Google Classroom.
