Reading:

Reading skills we are developing this week include:

•  make inferences about a character’s personality and will summarize key events that add to the plot’s development

• continue identifying plot details and the obstacles Don Quixote and Sancho encounter. 

Writing:

Writing skills we are developing this week include:

• identify the structure and parts of a persuasive essay

• respond to a prompt based on an excerpt from Adventures of Don Quixote and write opinion statements using supporting textual evidence

• write a claim and identify the importance of supporting evidence

Grammar:

Grammar skills we are developing this week are:

• identify and form sentences in the present tense that contain noun subjects and action verbs.

Morphology:

Morphology concepts we are learning this week include:

• distinguish between root words and words with the suffix –ness, and use them correctly in sentences.

This week in Math class we are going to be taking the Math MAP test! Students will be taking short sessions each day this week for 20-30 minutes. Students will be given a brain break after each session as they have identified this helps them to stay focused and motivated during testing week! Students results will be shared at Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences coming up in a couple weeks!

Social Studies: Mrs. Crush

Global Economics, Trade, Supply Chain, We Made a T-Shirt Planet Money Activity

Students will be working on an interactive and hands-on activity that will help students to master the concept of trade, supply chain, and production as it relates to economics and personal finance. Students will use the Planet Money video series "We Made a T-Shirt" to track the complete production of making a graphic t-shirt from growing the cotton to shipping to a store near you. Students will then choose a product of their own to track and understand how it is created and possibly shipped to their homes. 

Religion: Mrs. Crush

We will continue "Chapter 9: Jesus is Obedient and Conquers" in our Word of Life workbooks. Students will be able to:

• know that after His baptism, Jesus was led by the Spirit across the Jordan River into the desert to be tempted by Satan.

• know that Jesus' temptation in the desert fulfilled events of the Old Testament.

• know that Jesus shows us that we can conquer our enemies of sin and temptation through the virtue of truthfulness.

• know that in the liturgical season of Lent we can participate in Jesus' victory over sin and temptation in our lives.
