Math: Mrs. Bennett
This week in Math class, we are focusing on wrapping up our Chapter on Multiplying Decimals. Students will focus on real-world scenarios that require multiplication of decimals. Students are designing a Holiday Village. Each activity/station in the village takes up a certain amount of the total land. For example, students will add a christmas market to their village, but it only takes up 0.3 of the land. Therefore, students will use multiplication to determine how much 0.3 of 20.4 acres would be and draw it on their blue print. Students will rely on estimates to help them place their decimal correctly in the product.
*Students will have a test the week before Christmas Break. Students will have access to a study guide, and time in class to review! Date it TBT, but I will let students know in the next couple days. The test will cover the following:
Understand Decimal Multiplication Patterns
Assess Reasonableness of Products
Multiply Decimals by 1-2 Digit Whole Numbers
Multiply Decimals
Multiply Decimals with Zeros in the Product
Homework:
12/9 - SS #37 & 3 Reflex Sessions due Fri.
12/10- SS #38
12/11 - SS #39
12/12 - SS #40
12/13 - SS Quiz
Social Studies: Mrs. Crush
Students will the following in Social Studies this week:
Identify and describe the rights, roles, responsibilities, and limitations of citizens, women, slaves, and foreigners in Classical Athens.
Compare and contrast the life of a slave (like Elpis) and a citizen in Classical Greece.
Reflect on how citizenship in Classical Greece differs from modern concepts of citizenship.
Religion: Mrs. Crush
We will be focusing the next few weeks on Advent. The students will be researching a saint from Advent and how that helps us know that our participation in Advent prepares us for Christ's Second Coming and for the celebration of His first coming at Christmas. They will learn that the third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday, a day of rejoicing.
***We had four students from Ascension whose images were selected for the "Saints for Kids" section of Youth Focus in The Record Newspaper. Reagan L.'s image was selected to be printed in the newspaper and Maddie, Madeline, and Amelia's images are found online: https://therecordnewspaper.org/how-to-celebrate-our-lady-of-guadalupes-feast-day/ So proud of all the students!
