I want to sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding while I was unexpectedly out for two weeks. I appreciate your continued patience, prayers, and support as my family and I navigate this new reality, and prepare to welcome our little girl in only a couple weeks. Please know I will continue to give your children everything I can to ensure they are receiving the best education possible. As always, please reach out to me if you have any concerns or questions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing school community surrounding me.
We will get back into the swing of things this week, and wrap up our chapter from before Spring Break. Students planned on taking a chapter test that needed to be rescheduled. That test will now take place on Friday 4/11. There are two different tests based on what skill your child needed to work on. Some students will test over multiplying fractions and others will test on adding/subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. There is a study guide available and students will have time to ask questions/review with me prior to the test. I do recommend reviewing the study guide at home since we are coming back from a break to ensure your child is fully prepared for the test!
We will also start to work on our next chapter - Dividing Decimals. Students will focus on dividing a whole number by a decimal amount using models. We will always provide context to help students make connections to the real-world. For example, "One lap around a track is 0.6 of a mile. Addy wants to run a total of 3 miles. How many laps around the track does Addy need to run?"
Homework:
*If your child is already on 100% fluency through their 12's facts on Reflex, there homework is to complete 1 IXL from their Math Skill Plan (80% of higher). If your child is not yet to 100% fluency, they will complete 3 Reflex Sessions. Both assignments are due Friday 4/11.

Global Economics, Trade, Supply Chain, We Made a T-Shirt Planet Money Activity
Students will be working on an interactive and hands-on activity that will help students to master the concept of trade, supply chain, and production as it relates to economics and personal finance. Students will use the Planet Money video series "We Made a T-Shirt" to track the complete production of making a graphic t-shirt from growing the cotton to shipping to a store near you. Students will then choose a product of their own to track and understand how it is created and possibly shipped to their homes.
The students are also working on their research projects on various topics. They are working on these in both Social Studies and Technology. Due Date: Friday, March 28
