LA MRS. SCHMITT
This week students will be focusing on the essential question: "How can I use retelling strategies to summarize the text?" Students will be introduced to and practice retelling strategies to demonstrate their understanding of a text. These strategies will be modeled with the whole class, then students will work independently to complete the strategies and write summaries using various 4th grade level texts.
Students are also working on identifying and writing using appropriate sentence structures. Students are identifying types of sentences (declarative, interrogatory, exclamatory, and imperative), run on sentences, fragments, and complete sentences. Students are identifying and creating simple and compound sentences. We are analyzing well crafted mentor sentences as a class. Students are also practicing these skills on IXL.
