LA: MR BRITTON
This week in Language Arts class we will be continuing our new novel study for There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom by Louis Sachar, which we will finish reading this Friday. The questions for the novel study will be due the following Monday (with a work day on Monday to answer any questions, etc). We have also begun work on prefixes and suffixes, as part of our daily warm-up, in addition to reviewing skills on IXL and Freckle Apps. Writing on Friday. The Reading Log this week is for extra credit, and is therefore optional.

MATH: MRS. BENNETT
This week in Math class we are taking our Math MAP test! Students will test for 50 minutes on Tuesday and 50 minutes Wednesday. If students need additional time they will have time on Friday to finish. Please make sure your student is well-rested and has a healthy breakfast, so they can perform their best!
We will also be doing some Derby activities involving math. Students will design a jockey silk and determine what type of lines and angles they used. They will also describe the polygons they used.

SOCIAL STUDIES: MRS. CRUSH
In Math Workshop, we are continuing our project, "Using a Scale to Create a Map," focusing on the West and Southwest Regions. There are a few students who have states from the Midwest Region. Each student was assigned a different states and they will be creating a map with a title, cities, geographical features, compass rose, scale, and bodies of water. Using their scale, they will create multiple step math problems. In Social Studies, we will focus on the Southwest Region and students will be doing a mini Landmark Project.
Students will continue our unit of Kentucky State History. Some of the activities will be completed whole group, centers, in pairs, and individually.
***If a student doesn't finish their assignment in class, they will be responsible to complete as homework. Please check in with your child to see that they have it completed by the due date. The assignments are on Google Classroom.
RELIGION: MRS CRUSH
We will complete Ch. 15, "Sin and Conscience," in our Blest Are We workbooks. The students will be able to examine ways that people can reconcile and forgive, to learn the meaning of conscience and how it is correctly formed and developed, to understand that the Seventh through Tenth Commandments teach us to treat others in loving and unselfish ways, to apply ways we can make good moral decisions, and to pray a prayer of forgiveness. The students will also learn about St. Joan of Arc, our Saint of the Month.
Test on Ch.15 : Tuesday, May 16 (Pages 225-234 and 378: Faith Words, "We Believe" statements, Chapter Review, and 7th-10th Commandment Graphic Organizer)
HW: 3rd Trimester Service Hours due Friday, May 19 (Students may turn in on Google Classroom or fill out paper copy)
