Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
This Thursday 1/12 and Friday 1/13 are P/T/S conferences! Please email me if you are unsure of your assigned conference time or have a conflict as soon as possible. Conferences are scheduled for 15 minutes each. We ask that you respect these time frames by arriving on time and ending on time, so we can remain on schedule for the rest of the families. If you need longer than a 15 minute block, we can arrange that on a different day. Prior to the conference, please review Rediker and come ready with questions. I look forward to discussing your child's growth and progress!

How can using the text to justify my answers help me better understand what the author is saying?
Students will be focusing on the following skills:
Identify the main idea and themes
Explain how details are needed to support the main idea
Summarize text with key supporting details
We will be reading informational texts, specifically biographies, as a class to practice strategies in determining the importance of a text. Students will also be reading leveled texts and informational passages with the use of graphic organizers to synthesize and summarize their thinking using text evidence.
Students will be identifying and using roots and affixes, as well as begin learning about prepositional phrases. Students are practicing these skills on IXL, Khan Academy, and Freckle Apps.

MATH: MRS. BENNETT
This week in Math class we are writing our name in the stars! Students are using a coordinate grid to plot a point for each letter of their name. We will learn how to use the x and y axis to properly locate a point and the distance between points. Students will connect all their points to design a constellation. Using a protractor, students will measure each angle in their constellation and record the information in a table. The information will come in handy during the next phase of our PBL!
*Please ensure you are checking your child's Simple Solutions lesson nightly for accuracy and completion. I have noticed an increase in incomplete homework/numerous questions incorrect in recent lessons. These skills are important building blocks for students math journey and it is important they take their time to learn and practice these skills. I appreciate your support at home!*
