Block 1A: Same as yesterday--Revise your essay. Rubric is attached below ("Essay rubric 3") and is also found on the <writing page>. This is the third time that students can check and revise their writing. Only one grade, the best of all three grades, will go into the grade book.
Block 2: Same as yesterday--(Do your homework)
Parents, please check your child's grade on JMC. Look at the score titled "Short Story (Poe)." Three students earned 15 out of 15. All other students earned 0 out of 15. Those who read the story earned 15 out of 15. This grade was based on students reading the story--not on students understanding the story (though most students who do read the story do understand the story). The first step is for students to read the story. Step two is to read and discuss the story in class on the following day.
Even if a student truly understood nothing of the story, they would still be able to describe enough of what they read to demonstrate that they had read story.
Block 2 students: Read the short story from yesterday. Make a bullet list with 15 bullets (notes about the story). Make this list as you read. Create three or four bullets for each page. Each bullet should describe something that you think is important about the story from that page. Write a bullet. Read a little more. Write another bullet.
Write the paragraphs for the vocabulary words if you are one of the students who did NOT do that part of yesterday's assignment.
