THEME OF WEEK - MASS MEDIA AND PUBLIC OPINION!
WEEK 27 - MASS MEDIA AND PUBLIC OPINION!
28th Week of School! This week - students will be continuing their new unit of study on the Mass Media and Public Opinion! Specifically - students will be learning more about the characteristics, roles and functions of the media. Also students will be learning more about the public sphere and how that influences public opinion and also public policies.
Weekly Theme(s) - Students wil be learning about the characteristics, roles and functions of the mass media. Emphasis will be placed on the media's characteristics as far as roles as business, bias, gatekeeper, agenda setter and watchdog. Then - students will be learning about what the media does for us as citizens in a democracy. Also - students will be learning how media regulation works. Finally - students will be learning about the public sphere and how public opinion works to help make change and good public policy.

SWBAT understand key terms for the unit on mass media, public opinion and interest groups by defining key vocabulary terms and composing inquiry drawings.
