• SWBAT identify, describe, explain key characteristics and fundamentals of effective historical document-based question composition writing by viewing a video and answering questions.

• SWBAT identify, evaluate and analyze key components of effective document-based question composition writing by reading a series of sample student prompts.  

• SWBAT demonstrate key competencies around document based questions by composing DBQ compositions.  

METHOD:

4. Sample DBQ - Students will complete analysis of sample DBQ prompt by completing following:

• Reading Sample Student Prompt

• Reading DBQ Rubric

4. Student Response DBQ - Students will write sample DBQ prompt composition.

• SWBAT identify, evaluate and analyze key components of effective long- essay based question composition writing by reading a series of sample student prompts.  

• SWBAT demonstrate key competencies around long-essay question compositions based questions by composing LEQ compositions.   

METHOD:

3. Sample LEQ Prompt / Responses - Students will complete analysis of sample LEQ  prompt by completing following:

4. Student Sample LEQ Prompt - Students will compose sample student LEQ writing prompts.

• SWBAT identify, describe, explain key characteristics, events and impacts of World Before 1492 by viewing video/answering questions, taking notes and answering key concept questions.

• SWBAT locate, label, designate key peoples and places of importance of World Before 1492 by completing a map assignment.

METHOD:

1. Warm-Up/Question of the Day!

2. Video/Questions - The Black Legend, Native Americans and Spaniards. - Students will view video and answer questions.

3. Notes / Key Concept Questions - Students will take notes and answer key concept questions on content.

4. Mapping World Before 1492 - Students will use resource to complete map on World Before 1492.
