The Apprentice sermon
The Apprentice Sermon to follow ‘The Apprentice’ drama
(see ‘drama’ link on website.)
This is what it says on the website about the programme:-
Fourteen hopefuls, two-eagle eyed advisors and one self-made millionaire.
Yes it’s the show that pits Britain’s hungriest business brains against each other to see which one is worthy of a six-figure salary, and the chance to become Sir Alan Sugar’s apprentice.
Over a period of 12 weeks the candidates will be split into two teams and given a weekly task with which to expose their entrepreneurial skills.
For those on the winning team, a taste of the executive lifestyle awaits in the form of a luxury treat.
The losing team’s elected Team Leader, must choose two members of the team who performed worst.
The three of them have defend their respective corners whilst Sir Alan Sugar, assisted by his trusted advisors, decides which of them will hear the dreaded words…
‘You’re fired!’

The Apprentice
Think of a motto?
‘Every man for himself’
You only need see ONE programme, not necessarily the whole series, to witness that we have here:-
ruthlessness
greed
cheating
lying
back-stabbing
HYPER-activity
speed talking
adrenal rushes
exaggerated opinions
~ all expected and provided by the producers
The overall goal of the kingdom of big business
is ~ MONEY MAKING
Rather like the Hired Hand in our gospel reading and drama.
So what about…
The Good Shepherd
Think of a motto?
For everyone but himself
You only need listen to this ONE gospel reading or watch this ONE drama to understand that we have here:
trust
restfulness
quietness
guidance
love
intimacy
protection
healing
hope
THE CONTRAST COULDN’T BE MORE MARKED!
~ all these provided by the Good Shepherd, and expected by him of us
The overall goal of the world of the kingdom of the Good Shepherd is that we, as his sheep, should simply FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE and his leading for the good of God’s world.
He leads us by still waters, not to be inactive, but so that may know his peace, listen and know his will and be better equipped for service.
