Father what have they done:  From the album, ‘Inside Out

At the time of writing this song Russian Christian Valeri Barinov had just been released from prison for writing and performing a rock opera called ‘The Trumpet Call’.

I write this song for him and all Christian people who are tortured and persecuted because of their faith. Matthew 24: ‘ And he will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call.’

Chorus

3A

Father what have they done to your children,

   E7                                                           A

thrown them in prison, forbidden their faith?

Father what have they done to your people,

E7                                                                A

silenced your churches and banished your priests?

                   D         A                E            A         D         A                  E

Soon the trumpet call will be sounded, growing louder each passing day.

    A                                  E                   A

Are you listening, you children of freedom?

                                       E                  A

Will you lift your voices, join in the song?

(Chorus)

Sing aloud a song of protest, sing aloud a song of hope.

In the darkness your brother is weeping, how long must you wait before he’s set free?

(Chorus)

There will come a time of freedom, there will come a time of peace.

There will be a time of confession, there will be a time to forgive.  A > Am

(Final chorus:)

Father what have they done to your children,

   E7                                                           Am
