The Parable of the New Cloth and the New Wineskins

Matthew 9.16-17

If a patch of un-shrunk cloth is sewn, on a garment old and worn,

The cloth, when washed, will tear the part, where the garment first was torn

If you ignore this sound advice,

a fact everybody knows,

Then don’t blame me when the patch just shrinks,

and the tear just grows and grows,

(and grows and grows.)

If you pour new wine into old wineskins, then you’ll get what you deserve!

Rather pour new wine, into new wineskins, and both will be preserved.

If you ignore this sound advice,

A fact everybody knows

Then don’t blame me when the wineskin bursts,

and the wine just flows and flows.

(just flows and flows)
