The 30th annual Geosciences Student Research Symposium (GSRS) was held last week!
Geosciences was well represented at the 2025 College of Science Hall of Distinction & Roundtable Scholarship Awards Reception and Dinner. Alumna Isabel P. Montanez (Ph.D. Geosciences 1989) was inducted into the College of Science Hall of Distinction (one of five inductees this year). PhD student Oluwaseyi Dasho was one of four finalists for the Roundtable "Make a Difference Scholarship for Graduate Study."
Advisor and Enrollment Manager April Newcomer was honored last week at the 2025 NACADA Region 1/Region 2 Conference in Buffalo, NY, with the Excellence in Advising Award for Region 2. April also gave a talk, entitled "From Data to Dialogue: Harnessing Automation and AI for Personalized Academic Support."
Paleontology Laboratory Manager Vicki Yarborough and Professor Sterling Nesbitt both gave presentations at the The Association for Materials & Methods in Paleontology conference.
As usual, Professor Mark Caddick gave the keynote presentation to all the prospective College of Science students and their parents at the spring Hokie Focus weekend.
