GSRS 2023!

The department's graduate students hosted a fantastic GSRS 2023 last week! The quality of the presentations was excellent (the best ever, according to many faculty), and the new GS(Art)S exhibition showed that geoscientists can also be highly talented artists. Check out some photos in the slide carousel.

Michelle Stocker in the classroom

Assistant professor Michelle Stocker did an outreach event with the Me, Mine, and Us Montessori School (MMUMS) Elementary classroom in Blacksburg last month on Mesozoic fossils and paleontology. The kids are between 6 and 11, and had been learning about the geological timescale and the timeline of life on Earth. They had tons of questions and interest! From their teacher: "The children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation, seem inspired to research, and have piqued interest in the upcoming continental drift lesson."
