PhD student Esther Oyedele spent a day at Eastern Elementary School in Giles County, VA with three kindergarten classes, each with 19 curious kids who explored the topic of "Where’s the Water?" Esther's visit was part of the Girls Launch program organized by the Virginia Tech Center for Communicating Science.
Associate Professor Ryan Pollyea hosted last week's GEOS Tuesday and told students all about the importance of , and pathways to, the Professional Geologist license.
Virginia Tech alumni Greg and Susan Estep, who were visiting VT for Homecoming weekend, stopped by the Critical Zone Geophysics team to hear about the ongoing work on the subsurface beneath giant sequoia trees in Yosemite National Park. The Esteps, who volunteer in the park, first met the CZ team by chance at the Mariposa Grove during the team's fieldwork in 2023.
The Friday seminar was given by Dr. Jeremy Owens of Florida State University, who spoke on "Geochemical signatures constraining early marine (de)oxygenation using Tl and V isotopes." The visit was hosted by Dr. Ben Gill.
