New CT-Scanner for Geoscience (and more)
VT has acquired a new Nikon 40 C 450 CT scanner that was delivered over the summer, for which associate professor Michelle Stocker is the principal investigator. The new facility, located in Kelly Hall, has the ability to produce interior density scans of all kinds of samples, from fossilized bones to rock samples to biological materials to jet engine parts.

NABG Scholarship Winners
Two Geosciences students — Esther Oyedele and Oluvaseyi Dasho — were awarded NABG scholarships at the recent National Association of Black Geoscientists conference.

Dr. Aubreya Adams of Colgate University presented the Friday seminar, "Cause of heterogeneous behaviors in the Alaska subduction zone." Dr. Adams's visit was hosted by Associate Professor Sarah Stamps.
