Message from the pac chair

Boo! Welcome to Fall. Now that the back-to-school dust has settled, we can’t wait to get started with our plans for the year. The Welcome-Back BBQ was a great success and October will bring more fun for our students and families. We are going to need a little help, so please take a look at our website to see where you can volunteer your time.

The Halloween Spooktacular needs over 50 volunteers, so please take a look at our handy online signup sheet and lend a helping hand!

Exciting times ahead for the students of Sunnyside, with plans for the installation of a large, new playground and a Gaga Ball Pitt.

Wayne McGill

Join us on Friday, October 26, from 5 to 7:30 pm for a fun evening of Halloween music, dancing, food, and new games! Watch for the notice and the pre-order form in your child's planner.

Consider volunteering your time to make this evening a spooky success.

Spirit Wear orders are due this week. They are only available once a year, so don’t miss out! Submit the order form, along with cash or cheque (payable to Sunnyside PAC) or order online today.

Never underestimate the power of school spirit!

The students really enjoy hot lunch! You can now sign up for a new account and place online orders through to December on Munch a Lunch.

Here is the Hot Lunch volunteer sign-up for: October 5, October 12, October 22, October 26. Order an extra meal for yourself and dine with your child!

Through our many fundraisers and with some amazingly generous local sponsors, we have raised all the money necessary to put in a large, brand new playground for our students to enjoy. We are anticipating an installation date in November. Stay tuned!

The older, intermediate students have asked for this cool, new play space. It will be installed beside the new playground, on the southeast side of the school. To learn more about it, visit our Gaga Ball Page.

The Montessori (SMS) Annual General Meeting will be held in the Sunnyside library on Tuesday, October 30 at 7pm. Come and see how you can support Sunnyside's Montessori program both at school and at home. Doors will open at 6:30 and refreshments will be served.

We all want to keep our children safe. We have a volunteer-run kiss and drop on the lower parking lot, but we need more parents to keep it running. Consider giving 30 minutes of your time to make this a success.

With over 660 students, morning drop-off and after-school pick-up can get hectic, please continue to be extra vigilant around the school.

We are requesting a traffic light be installed at the intersection of 28th Ave and 159th Street. Follow these instructions to submit a request to the City of Surrey. It only takes about 1 minute!

If you are passionate about our school and are sick of the overcrowding, consider joining the Surrey DPAC Executive Team and be part of the solution. The Surrey DPAC is the collective voice for parents of Surrey School District #36 who deal directly with the school district on issues affecting schools in district #36.

We have an account at the Return-It Express Depot. Simply place all your your refundable containers in a a clear, plastic bag and bring them to any depot in B.C., print and stick the label on your bag and the money will be deposited into Sunnyside's account.

Our account/phone # is simply 888-888-8888.

We would like to thank all of you for coming to the Welcome Back BBQ and making it so successful! We could not have done it without the help of our grade 6/7 students, our many volunteers, and sponsors.

We raised a grand total of $2,907, thanks to all of you, and our generous sponsors: RBC Royal Bank, Centennial Food Service, and Kevin Basran of Re/Max.

SCHOOL EVENTS ONLY HAPPEN WHEN FAMILIES VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME.
