Message from the pac chair

Thank you all! We couldn't believe the turnout for the Halloween Spooktacular, and we were overwhelmed with gratitude over the level of participation. None of it would have been possible without our amazing parent, student, and staff volunteers.

November brings pizza, spirit wear, chocolate, and the installation of a long-awaited new playground.

Lest we forget, this Remembrance Day we recognize how fortunate we are, and we pause to remember those who made it possible.

After years of fundraising, and with the help of several generous local sponsors, we were able to purchase a beautiful, new playground. We are excited to announce that we have an installation date of November 24.

15 volunteers will be needed to help install the playground. This is called a "community build", and saves approximately $5,000. The playground equipment providers will be on site to guide the volunteers through the process. A volunteer sign-up will be going out shortly.

Thursday, November 8 is Pizza Night! Blaze Pizza will donate 20% of the proceeds from your meal to Sunnyside, if a copy of the flyer (on paper or digitally) is presented before paying.

Applies to eat-in or take-out meals between 5 and 8 pm. *Does not include online orders.

Treat your loved ones to gourmet chocolate from Purdys, Canada's favourite chocolatier, while supporting Sunnyside. 25% of your order goes back to the school. Brochures will be distributed November 8. Orders are due Monday, November 26, with an expected delivery date of December 12, just in time for the holidays.

The Sunnyside t-shirts and hoodies are on their way. We will post a message on the App and our website as soon as the items are ready to be sent home.

The Halloween event was a wonderful success with the introduction of games and prizes. We were surprised by their popularity and are already working on ways to minimize the lineups for next year. We raised $2,865 at the event, and were given an additional $2,000 in donations from our amazing sponsors; Kevin Basran - RE/MAX and RBC. We could not have done it without the help of our enthusiastic volunteers, and our generous sponsors. Thank you!

The students really enjoy receiving a hot lunch! Sign up for a new account and place online orders through to December on Munch a Lunch.

Here is the Hot Lunch volunteer sign-up for: November 2, November 5, November 16, November 23, and November 30. Surprise your child by showing up at lunchtime.

Our goal is to keep our children safe. We have a volunteer-run kiss and drop program, whereby parents can drive in and drop their children off safely, near the playground. Volunteers needed daily to keep it running.

Consider giving 30 minutes of your time to make this a success.

The PAC has an Express account at the Return-It Depot. Simply put all your refundable containers in a clear, plastic bag and drop it off at any Express Return-It in. Our account/phone # is 888-888-8888. All funds will benefit Sunnyside Elementary.
