Happy New Year Families
Hope you had a relaxing winter break!
I’m sure we are all not very happy about the COVID situation and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. We urge everyone to please practice caution and stay safe.
On a positive note, it’s not all doom and gloom. The vaccine rollout for the children seems to be gaining momentum. I was listening to a radio podcast which claimed that the South Surrey had 43% of eligible children vaccinated with first dose. This number is among the highest in the province.
Since it looks like COVID is going to be hanging around for a while, we have been advised to practice caution by the school and school board, we will be continuing to monitor the Public Health and School District advisories before organizing any events at this stage.
On behalf of the PAC, I wish you a happy, safe and COVID free New Year!!

We are excited to share that our parent community has decided to move forward with committing to a new playground structure, once the portables are removed. BUT, we have a deadline of February 12th, 2022 to raise the funds to have it installed this summer. We are hopeful that any surplus left from our classroom expansion will be permitted to assist in this (though not confirmed). Due to current restrictions and time constraints, we are keeping it simple with straight donations to the project. Please email us at fundraising@sunnysidepac.ca if you would like to discuss a business contribution. More information for parents, community members & local businesses will follow very shortly.
Please note, we have made the difficult decision to postpone January Hot Lunch Day to Friday, April 8th. The same lunch will be provided, if you have ordered & paid already, there is nothing to do but unfortunately pack a lunch on January 14th. Given the possibility of a sudden "Functional Closure", we decided to not risk having to pay for the lunches and let them go to waste. Hot Lunch will resume February 18th. Visit: munchalunch.com/schools/SunnysideBC and place your order by February 9th. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at sunnysidehotlunch@gmail.com.
When purchasing fresh, delicious COBS Bread, mention Sunnyside and we will receive 5% of the sale price. Help us raise funds for some wonderful things for our school. Applicable to 2 nearby South Surrey locations:
All those refundable holiday bottles taking up too much space? We have the solution! Bag them and drop them off at any Return-It Depot. The Sunnyside PAC has an Express account that is open all year long. Our account/phone # is 888-888-8888.
With so much construction around the school, please be mindful of pick up & drop off locations. The Kiss and Go, located in the upper parking lot by the front entrance, is an area to safely drop your child off before school. Your child must be able to unbuckle and exit the car independently, from the passenger's side, and head to class. Keep in mind that this is not an area to park and wait.
