Electrical cable
[2] Romex is a non-metallic (NM) sheathed electrical cable, often for residential branch wiring and is popular for indoor electrical installations.
NM and NMC conductors are made of 2+ insulated conductors with in a non-metallic sheath. Coating on NMC cable is non-conducting, flame-resistant, moisture-resistant. Unlike other cables often for homes, they are for in damp environments, like basements.
To make a western union splice:
-remove about 8 cm of insulation from each conductor
-cross the conductors about 2 cm from the insulation and bend their ends so that one wire
wraps around the other
-wrap one wire in a clockwise direction until it reaches the insulation. Wrap the other in
a counter-clockwise direction for the same number of turns
-cut off any excess wire and bend the ends down.
