Caterpillers don’t breath by their mouth but actually with the black holes on the side of their body called “spiracles” with most having 16 depending on the species.
Caterpillars only have legs at the front their legs on the back are called “prolegs” which are a circle of hooks when looked close and acts as anchors that hold the caterpillars tightly in place during movement of other body segments.
They uses prolegs to grab on stems and twigs like hands which they mostly uses to hang to form a chrysalis.
