Job Unlocks

Upgrading Jobs Unlocks Features

As you upgrade to new jobs various features will unlockThis page will breakdown which features are unlocked at each breakpoint.

Second Job Unlocks

Once you reach base level 40, job level 40 in your first job you can now take the quest to advance to the second job.  This will probably happen somewhere around level 70 depending on how many quests you've done.  Unlike the original RO game, you don't have to reach level cap and reset your level to 1, this is just another job advancement!

The quest should show up at the top of your quest log automatically so follow this to complete your job change.  Usually this starts in the Adventure Hall in Prontera.

There are also a few features that unlock once you unlock this job advancement.

Second Job - Aesir Monument Expanded

Once you've changed jobs the Aesir monument will automatically expand.  These new nodes may grant new skills, upgrades to your new job skills, and even upgrade existing job skills.  Be sure to review them and prioritize as needed.

First Aesir Monument Expansion (Green Shaded Area is New)

Third Job Unlocks

Depending on your progress you could reach third job as early as 90 (as I did with my ranger) but many of you will reach this between 100-110 and that's ok.  I decided to put there here since this is around the time you'll reach this point.

The quest for this on each class typically sends you to Jeuno since 3rd job was released alongside this content.

Third Job - Mount Quest Unlocked

When you unlock third job a new quest should appear in Prontera to unlock the ability to buy a mount.  The mount selection is tied to your base class so if for example you’re a wizard, your pet will be a nine tailed fox.

This will require you to give up some boss materials to complete the quest.  Afterwards, you then have to pay a few million zenny to buy the mount from the shop as you've unlocked the ability to buy it but sadly don't get one for free.

An adventure handbook skill "Rapid Riding" will auto equip a mount of your choice whenever you tap on your minimap to move.

Third Job - Aesir Monument Expansion #2

Upon changing to third job your Aesir will automatically expand again to include nodes new skills and existing abilities.

Second Aesir Monument Expansion (Green Shaded Area is New)

Third Job - Breakthrough Skills

Once you hit job level 41 you'll be able to put additional points into existing skills which go beyond the cap.  There are no more breakthrough quests as your max level is set to 80 as soon as you hit third job.

To unlock 4th job you need to reach base lv 140 and job level 60.

Third Job - Aesir Monument Expansion #3

This final expansion appeared when breaking the level 60 cap in third job.  Since these quests have been removed I can only assume it will auto expand once you hit 60 on your third job.

Final Aesir Monument Upgrade (Green Shaded Area is New)

Fourth Job Unlocks

Once you reach base level 120 and job level 60 on your third job you can finally take the quest to unlock your fourth job.  This was reduced from 140/80 in the previous patch so it's much easier to start unlocking your origin skills.  The questline for this is now extremely short so finish this up and start enjoying 4th job!

So what changes at fourth job?  The Aesir monument does not grow anymore.  Several new skills can often replace older ones which drastically changes your build.  Another difference is that every class can gain job levels until they max out every single fourth job skill.

To access these skills open your skill list and select the new origin skills tab at the top of the screen.

Example of the origin skills screen, showcasing the skill Water Asphyxia

The first time you max out every fourth job skill on any character your account receive a one-time stat bonus of 300 stat points to spend towards primary stats.  These bonus points are available to spend on every job once you unlock them, even on previous jobs that have not reached fourth job yet!

Fourth Job Runes

Although there is no Aesir monument for fourth job, the Runebox has some runes for fourth jobs.  These are called Glittering Star Runes, or S Star runes.  F2P players obtain these weekly by running Echoing Corridor.  They cost 30 brave’s holy emblems each and you may buy up to two a week.  Most classes only have two star runes to worry about but every one of these has a probability roll that is usually amazing, you’ll probably want them.

Flame pillars created by Arcane Masters gain a passive effect that continuously applies a shield that absorbs magic damage but the star rune has a probability augment that blocks all types of damage.

Hoddle’s wings is a skill that allows Priests to deal more Dark damage and converts damage dealt to healing, but prevents them from casting heals and revives.  This rune's probability augment removes this restriction so you can keep the party healed with dark damage while still being able to revive others.

These runes can be smelted just like your other runes but please note that you can only use these S Star runes to do this.  You cannot tier up S runes to S Star runes so make sure you do your weekly Echoing Corridor to get your two S Star runes per week.

Fourth Job Breakthrough

Yes, fourth job has a breakthrough mechanism but there is no quest.  You can start this at anytime you've maxed out a skill that can be increased further.

This breakthrough increases the maximum level of a few skills in your tree.  There are 5 points in total so the gains are small, and for some classes you may use 2 books on the same skill.  In either case the skills you can increase are predetermined and have a strange maximum level such as 4 or 9.  Using the origin book events these skills out to a maximum of 5 or 10 points.

The limit is increased by using an Origin Book.  This is obtained either off the Exchange, or by using the medals you receive from Endless Corridor to buy them.  You only need 5 books total since each increases skill level by 1.  If a skill that can be increased is already at cap you'll notice a green up arrow on the skill indicating you can raise its cap.

Once all five skills have been increased to maximum and your entire skill tree is maxed out you will receive a one time bonus of 300 stat points.  This bonus will persist between classes., even if they haven't reached fourth job yet.  This means you can multijob to another class like Genetic and you'll have access to those bonus points immediately.
