Divine Tree

In the Honor of Valhalla Patch (May 23, 2022) the Yggdrasil Spirit Tree was overhauled and several changes were made including the removal of the second Yggdrasil Spirit Tree that you would unlock as you worked your way into Maple Leaf Faramira.  Furthermore, all unlocks in the tree are now account wide and rewards are retroactive so if you've already completed this then head back out to the Wasteland and claim your rewards from the tree.

Additionally, Alberta Patch #2 (June 20, 2023) removed Time Quicksand from this system so all Fourth Jobs now level from Job Experience.  Nodes within the Yggdrasil Tree related to Time Quicksand have been changed to Base Exp/Job Exp rate increase.

Unlocking the Divine Tree

Shortly after creating your character and using your job boost, the main quest will send you to the Wasteland and after a short mission will unlock the Divine Tree.

Button to access the Divine Tree

Once unlocked this feature can be accessed by zoning into the Wasteland and clicking on the yellow Divine Tree icon at the top right of your screen.  Note that this can only be accessed when you're zoned into Wasteland, Spirit Breath, or one of the other farming zones out in Louyang.

Selecting a node will show you what it does and what materials you need to unlock it.  Almost all of the nodes only affect you while in any of the Louyang zones.

Upgrading the Divine Tree

The monsters in the Wasteland zones drop materials used exclusively on upgrading your Divine Tree.  The first six nodes are available to upgrade at first but as you unlock them the nodes that follow that branch become available for unlock.  The image is a little rough to follow but in short, follow the branch to see the unlock path if you're targeting a specific node.

Example - Unlocking Swift Pace (1) allows you to unlock Tattered Bag (2)

Bonus Unlocks

In addition to the unlocks and boosts granted from each node in the Divine Tree there are other rewards unlocked as you level up the Divine Tree.  This includes Contribution, Gold Medals, quest unlocks, belief tokens, and permanent stat boosts.  You can access this list by clicking on the top level icon that shows the level of the tree.

Accessing the Unlocks List (click top left)

Quest and stat unlocks are automatic but Gold Medals, Contribution, and Belief Tokens must be claimed manually.  To claim them, open up the rewards interface and tap on the rewards on the right side that have a border around them to claim them.  These unlocks can only be claimed on one character and progress of the tree is account wide!  Make sure you use this on your main as this is a substantial boost for your Aesir Monument.

In total you're rewarded with 480 Gold Medals, 300000 Contribution, and 2400 Belief Tokens.  Belief tokens are used in the Guild Praying feature which adds flat bonuses to your base attack, mattack, defense, magic defense, and HP.

Time Quicksand

This has been removed from the game!  Fourth Job skill points are now obtained by earning Job Levels from mobs.

Monster Secret (Elites)

Elite monsters spawn out in the Wasteland throughout the day and you may accidentally attack these mobs while farming in Wasteland or other connected zones.  Some of them have special spawn conditions or require you to take special actions in order to defeat them.

Buildings

The third tab shows various buildings out in the Wasteland zones.  These buildings change the weather, sell items, and do other tasks.

Example of the Buildings Interface

Ice Dragon Divine Column (Weather Station)

This facility controls weather throughout the zone and there are two: one out in Wasteland, the other out in Maple Leaf Faramita.  Weather grants zone wide buffs based on the weather selected and also influences Elite monster spawns.

You can freely change the weather by going to this station and selecting the weather you want the zone to experience.  This effect lasts for hour real-time and is shared by everyone throughout the zone so if someone changed the weather recently you'll have to wait to change it again until this time is up or try to do so on another channel.

Magic Treasure Building

One of the facilities sells various items, many of which are used to help kill certain elite monsters.  This facility also wells Lucky Bags which give you zeny and up to 100 can be opened per day. Conjury Power Potions are also really good for leveling other jobs as they give you a bunch of base exp and job exp.  Once your Divine Tree is finished you can spend your materials on these things until you're strong enough to move onto newer content.

Ghost Altar

The Ghost Altar allows you to freely change to another class which has preset skills and stats.  This lasts until turned off which can be done by by pressing the icon at the bottom center of the screen.  You may want to consider this if your class is an awful farmer as this is free and these classes are quite powerful for this zone.

Time Backtracking Devices

This device allows you to force an elite to respawn by using 100 Ancient Remains and 1 Maple Colored Agate.  Once you submit the materials to it in the first tab, choose the second tab and pick a monster to revive.  I have not used this myself but it looks like you can only revive monsters a total of 3 times per day.

It appears that there is a timer at the top center of the screen so I'm assuming that this facility can only be used by someone every half an hour like the weather station.

Frost Statue, Air of Chaos, and Crystal of Chaos

Once you unlock access to Maple Leaf Faramita you'll gain access to the Frost Statue which is inside the Frost Domain map in this new area.  This statue unlocks account wide stat bonuses in exchange for Air of Chaos, a material earned exclusively from farming in Maple Leaf Faramita and the Frost Domain maps.

You can hold up to 12,000 Air of Chaos but as you gain more of this currency you'll start to notice monsters spawning as aggressive, dark variants of themselves.  At around 8,000 Air of Chaos every monster will spawn in this state but these aggressive monsters start dropping Crystal of Chaos, an item you can use to open a shop to purchase various materials with.  These crystals can be used to purchase whatever you like though note that you can only buy 10 nightmare chests per week.

Once you have some Air of Chaos you can approach the Frost Statue and start unlocking these bonuses.  Once all bonuses have been unlocked you can continue to exchange Air of Chaos for zeny at a rate of 50,000 zeny per 1,000 Air of Chaos.  This is a great way to get some extra money for all that extra Air of Chaos you've obtained.  Keep in mind that spending Air of Chaos will reduce the number of aggressive mobs, thus limiting your acquisition of Crystals of Chaos until you raise your Air of Chaos again.

Try to keep a balance of at least 6,000 Air of Chaos or more so that there are plenty of aggressive mobs to benefit from.
