Monster Laboratory

At base level 20 you unlock the Monster Laboratory, a 6 man instance that spawns 150 monsters onto the map all at once. Rewards are based on how many monsters were killed and when finished you choose to gain either EXP or loot but not both.

Since this uses a significant chunk of combat time so you should only do this if you’re leveling multijob much later on in the game. This takes away from your farm time so I can’t stress enough that levels are not the primary source of power in this game. Skill points help and they are strong, but without the gear and stats to back it up you’re not going to be killing anything as you push onward.

The entrance to the monster lab is located at the Ecological NPC in any town like the one shown below in Prontera.

Monster lab has been simplified to offer areas for the following level ranges:

• 1-30

• 31-60

• 61-90

• 91-120

Back when I ran this the level 70-90 range was full of weak characters that could not clear the event. You get exp for each monster you kill so if the group only killed 200 monsters you’re only getting ⅔ the experience. Try to find a friend to carry you for this if you absolutely must do it.

If you’re not killing efficiently and can’t farm for zeny for some reason pet adventure is probably a much better option here to get your some crucial cards. Personally I would never run this dungeon, it feels like a complete waste of combat time. Regardless of how I feel do whatever you want and have fun!
