Learning Objectives

Success Criteria

Discussion

Children at a very young age should understand the value of money. They should be taught not only how to save money but also

how to use time and resources wisely. Money is used to purchase and pay for almost everything. It is important to examine first the

things you are buying to know if there is really a need or it is merely a want.

What is the difference between need and want?

1. Need is something you must have in order to live.

Some of the examples are house for shelter, food to eat to be healthy, clean water, clothes to wear for protection, and education for your future.

2. Want is something that you like to possess or own even if you do not need it

Some of the examples are branded T-shirt or dresses, imported shoes and bags, jewelry, imported toys,

and others. It is very important that you understand the differenceb between need and want because this helps for a wise

spending decision.
