LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Identify the parts of plants and their functions
Identify the ways to take care of plants
Determine the uses of plants
DISCUSSION
The Body structure of a plant is divided into systems - the shoot system and the root system
The shoot system consist of the stem , leaf , seed , flower and fruits.
The Root system - holds the plant below the ground. It transports nutrients and water from the soil to the plant.
Roots - hold the plant to the soil. They absorb nutrients and water from the soil. Without roots, plants will die.
Stem - serves as the support of the plant. The stem transfers the water and food ( nutrients) from the roots to different parts of the plant.
The stem hold leaves, flowers, and fruits.
Leaves - produce food for the plants. Leaves need sunlight from the sun, carbon dioxide form the air, and water from the roots to make sugar.
The Flower - is the part of the plant that allows the plants to produce more plants. Flowers can become fruits that have seeds.
