Different Livelihood in Our Community
Farming
Farming is one of the primary sources of food of Filipinos.
Plains and valleys are places ideal for planting rice, corns, grains, vegetables, fruits, and other products because of their good climate, higher altitude, and fertile soil.
Cagayan Valley are known for their large productions of rice
and corn.
Fishing
The fishing industry is another main source of food for the Filipinos.

Mining
Philippines - is considered as the fifth country in the world with the
largest mineral deposits
The country is one of the leading producers of copper in Asia. Rich
deposits of gold are found in Mangayan in the Mountain Province and Mt.
Diwalwal in Mindanao. Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur have the
largest deposits of iron. Nonoc Island in Surigao has one of the largest
deposits of nickel. Lead is mined in Masbate; cement in La Union, Rizal, and Cebu; sulphur in Butuan, Camiguin, and Davao; coal in Polilio Island, Cebu, Masbate, and Mindanao; tin and quicksilver in Palawan; and marble in Romblon.
3. Logging
The Philippines has a rich 5.7 hectares of forest, but less than 50% is used
for commercial forests.
Commercial forests are the only areas identified for logging activity.
Sixty percent of the trees in this industry are used for commercial logging.
The dipterocarp or Philippine mahogany, like the yakal, apitong, tanguile,
mayapis, and guijo are the best sources of logs used for furniture and
buildings.
