Lesson 3:  Recognizing Nouns

At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:

• explain what nouns are;

• effectively use nouns in sentence composition.

Nouns that start with capital letters are exact names of people, places, animals and objects.  The nouns that start with small letters are common names.

Example:

actor - Robin Padilla

1. country - Philippines

2. school - QAT

3. park - Al Ain Park

4. hotel - Mariott Hotel

5. beach - Bohol Beach Club

TYPES OF NOUNS:

Common Nouns  -  nouns that refer to general things, and they are only capitalized 

                                          when used at the beginning of the sentence.  But most of the 

                                          times they start with small letters.

Proper Nouns  -  nouns that are used to name a person, places or 

      thing, and it starts with a capital letter.

Filipino  -  Pangngalan

The lesson plays an important role in allowing the learner to associate and relate with their peers, or other people and things, allowing the learner to communicate ideas effectively.
