Parts of the Nose
The nose has two openings called nostrils where air passes. Then nostrils filter dirt from air. Inside the nostrils are tiny strands of hair. They move back and forth to trap dirt.
Inside the nose is a moist layer called mucous membrane which warms and moistens the air. It secretes sticky mucus that catches germs and kills them. The sticky substance in your nose is called SNOT. It came from trapped dust, germs, and small particles.
COMMON NOSE AILMENTS
Sinusitis - It is the inflammation of the mucous membrane and the sinus.
Rhinitis - It is the inflammation of the nasal cavity and mucous membrane. Rhinitis is caused by allergens from plants and food items.
Nose Bleed - The nose bleeds as a result of broken blood vessels in the nostrils. It may be due to hot weather, too.
Runny Nose - is the excess discharge of fluid coming form the nasal passages. It can be caused by a cold or an allergy.
