New Venture Finance Online F2026

New Venture Finance (MGT 481) provides students with working knowledge of financing mechanisms such as friends and family, venture capital, angel investments, and debt instruments for creating and operating a new venture; valuation methods for determining pre- and post-money; creating capitalization tables to track equity ownership assignments and investment rounds.

MGT 300 and MGT 386, MGT 387 may be taken as co-requisite

I use instruction materials I have created myself by curating the most recent, best practice sources I track. Those materials are hosted on or linked to from this site. Entrepreneurship is still too young and dynamic for building a course around a textbook, IMHO.

Google / Gmail account

Course assignments will be submitted through Google Forms linked on each course module webpage. Because the form includes a file-upload field, Google requires you to be signed in to a Google account before you can submit your work. 

Google requires you to have a Gmail account OR a google account using, say, your Crimson.UA email address, in order to upload files to a Google a designated folder in your Google Drive. Google enforces authentication to verify the uploader, prevent spam or malicious file uploads, and handle Drive storage permissions. If you already have a gmail account, you're all set. 

Here are the links for you to create either 1) a plain Google account with your existing email address or 2) a Gmail account that gives you an "username@gmail.com" address:

1. Create a google account using an existing email address without creating a Gmail account (I tested this with my UA account; it works)

2. Create a Gmail account (which also creates a google account)

Please confirm that you can access the assignment submission forms well before the deadline; difficulty signing in at the time an assignment is due does not alter the submission deadline. If you anticipate an access problem, contact me in advance.
