Solution Sketches

What

Solution Sketches are a component of the divergent ideation stage in Google Ventures' Design Sprint. The solution sketch uses three panels on (usually) a blank 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper (in portrait mode, not landscape). 

You can think about the three panels in the sketch as a comic strip in which the customer experiences the problem; explores and discovers your solution; and enjoys / realizes the benefits of your solution (problem solved!). I made a short presentation of these steps with examples (see also same slides below). Hope they help!

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this module you should be able to:

• create a solution sketch depicting a customer experiencing the "big pain" or similar situation you hope to solve; the customer discovering your solution; and your customer enjoying the benefits of the value proposition that delivers your solution

• facilitate a solution sketch session for her or his own new venture group to create multiple ideas for the team to consider

• express ideas for customer solutions and value propositions in the form of simple sketches with captions
