Mark 6:6-13
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
6 Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. 7 Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.
8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. 11 And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”
12 They went out and preached that people should repent. 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
When Jesus sent out His disciples it was a foreshadowing event, for when He would leaven them for Heaven and be back with His Father...
When Jesus gave them authority over impure spirits...These were His instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts...Wear sandals but not an extra shirt...Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town...And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”...
They went out and preached that people should repent...They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them...
Jesus sending out His disciples in pairs to various cities in the region...He did not discriminate the regions and area...The region could be Jew, Gentile, or Samaritan, or whatever region...The disciples were to say, peace to this house...Then they were to preach to those they met...They were to heal the sick...Free people from evil spirits...They were to carry no purse bag...
The disciples were to stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages...Jesus commanded the disciples to take nothing for the journey...He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the LORD of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest...
The disciples were to get the people closer to God...And this would be a precursor to ascension to heaven, when they would be without Him and be on their own and have to continue His Work of getting the Good News to the World about Him and His Ministry and our Father in Heaven...
