John 14:6
The Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Romans 7:15-25
Struggles With Our Sin
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Mark 2:16-17
Jesus Came for Sinners
16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
St. Paul knew what it was to human...He examined this human and earthly side of himself...He tells us that he can't understand this human side and what he does...He is divided...He has a divided mind, a divided body...He was struggling with himself, as man does...We want to be good, but it seems we just cannot carry it out all the time...For what I do is not good, even though I want to do good and try to do good...Something always seems to get in the way of always doing good...That something is sin...Men, like St. Paul, struggle with sin everyday...And if Paul, who is a Saint, struggled with this what hope do I have as just a regular man...
Truly looking at our inward self is a tough, messy, unpredictable process, and takes a lifetime...We have a human, fleshy body, but God sent us His Holy Spirit through His Son...Thus we are divided... In a way, and in this respect, how could we not be divided...
But God sent us His Son and through Him a Holy Spirit...Jesus tells the Pharisees that He came to earth, not for the righteous, but for us sinners...So although we all struggle everyday with sin, and troubles, and the weight of life...There is hope, there is a way...That way is the path of Jesus Christ...He is the Way...So although I say, what a wretched man I am, Jesus rescues from my sin, from my life's struggles...Thanks be to God that He has a way out of these struggles through Jesus Christ our LORD...
When we are feeling down, our life's troubles surrounding us, we must look up and ask for help to get out of our troubles...When we ask, how do we get out from our of struggles?...Jesus tells us I AM the Way...The Way is the Jesus Way...The Way to life is the Jesus Way...The Way, the Jesus Way is the Way of hope...
