Mark 6:3
The Carpenter
3 Isn’t this the carpenter?
Jesus changed things...Jesus changes things, because He is alive...He is the Son of the Living God...He was a carpenter...So a Carpenter changed the world...
Since the time of Abraham, we had animal sacrifices to help us transfer our sins to the blood of a sacrificial animal...The Jewish people had always looked at Moses, Isaiah, Elijah, and the other prophets as the road map to God for hundreds and hundreds of years...Everyone believed only God could forgive sins, and that there is only one God...Every teacher and student of Scripture was expecting a Messiah, an Anointed One who would save the world...A Messiah, who would be a military leader, and help Israel conquer the Great Roman Empire...
The world of religion and philosophy would forever change when a poor boy from Nazareth was born...He became a carpenter...This poor Jewish Carpenter from Nazareth walked around forgiving people of their sins...This Carpenter could forgive us of our sins when we sin again others and sin against Him and His Father...This poor Carpenter even compared Himself to God, with phrases like I and the Father are One...I AM the way, the truth, and the life...Now after this poor Carpenter walked the earth and died things changed forever...Things would never be the same...This poor Jewish Carpenter was the ultimate sacrifice for all the sins of everyone...Animal sacrifices were no longer needed...The Moses and prophet road map, was no longer the road map...The road map to the Father is now through the poor Carpenter...This Carpenter is the Messiah...This poor Carpenter conquered the Roman Empire...And when the poor Carpenter died on the cross -He, in fact, did take on the sins of the whole world...He is the Son of the Living God...
This poor Jewish Carpenter told us to trust in God, but trust also in Him...This poor Carpenter also said He would send us the Holy Spirit of Truth...This Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth...This poor Carpenter would be part of the Trinity with the Holy Spirit of Truth, that He sends to us...The Father makes this all possible, as well as making all things possible...
