Mark 4:21-25
A Lamp on a Stand
21 He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? 22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”
24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. 25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
Jesus wanted the Truth to be known...He wanted the gospel to be heard by others and for the Disciples to share what they had learned from Him to others and to future generations...
God has given different people different talents and gifts...Some are gifts of mathematics, science, and physics...Now if we look at Jesus wanting the Truth be known about all things in this statement then all Truth is being talked about here...Jesus said, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed?...Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?...For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open...If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”...Maybe Jesus wants all Truth to be known to everyone...From other people's point of view, and especially a scientist's point of view, he might say that as scientists discover new things -then we are not to hide these new discoveries and put these new Truths under a bowl or bed, but we are to share them with others to learn about creation...I do not think God wants someone not to use their gifts and keep them undercover of bed or keep their gift hidden...Not using one's talents would be a great waste, and that does not seem to coincide with those who seek the Truth...Knowledge hidden and not used is not knowledge at all...And knowledge seeking Truth not being used is not wisdom...Science will help reveal more of God's creation and help explain it as time goes on...God is revealed through His creation, just as He is revealed through His Word...
