Mark 2:17
Jesus Came for Sinners
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
C.S. Lewis was once asked which of all the religions gives its followers the greatest happiness...Lewis paused and said this: “While it lasts, the religion of worshipping oneself is best.”...Jesus was the opposite of this...Jesus believed in serving others...
G. K. Chesterton said that the Christian religion was hard, which does not imply a happiness...
Jesus, when He was with His Disciples, they never seem to go around seemingly happy or laughing together., as I read the gospels..But they do seem contented and of a joyous nature...
Like C. S. Lewis, I do not think that the Christian religion is a religion of happiness...One might feel happiness following Jesus and being a Christian, but I do not think that was a goal of Jesus' when He came to earth...I am not sure that the end results of any religion are about happiness...I think that Jesus and having a relationship with Him is more about contentment and joy than it is about happiness and pleasure...Jesus came to call on sinners and to save them...That in itself should bring us happiness...
