Mark 6:4-6
Jesus Could Heal Only a Few Sick People
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith.
1 John 4:8
God is LOVE
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
There is this mystery of why God allows us to suffer...Jesus' suffering on the cross forever ties Him to humanity...On the cross He saved us from our sins...And we read in scripture that God is LOVE...I am not sure we can have love and live a life without some suffering...It seems that love and suffering somehow and somewhat go together...It seems that suffering is a part of the human condition in life, as is love...So is trying to avoid suffering, maybe in a way, a way of avoiding love?...If we can completely avoid suffering and we do are best to eliminate all our sufferings, have we learned much about life and our fellow human condition?...Have I grown much in my maturity, and have I really learned about both life and love, if I have never ever suffered?...
It maybe that those who suffer relate more to faith, and have at least a mustard seed of faith...Is it possible when we suffer we are nudged toward or are guided to faith?...
I find it very interesting that the only people that Jesus healed in His hometown, were people who were suffering...The ones who suffered could somehow relate to Him, while others could not...So when I read that Jesus could only heal a few sick people in His own hometown, I think of their personal sufferings...These people were coping with their lives and their sufferings...They were suffering and, yet somehow, they believed in Him...And out of His LOVE for them, they were healed by Him...
