Mark 1:29-34
Jesus Heals Many
29As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. 31So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. 33The whole town gathered at the door, 34and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.
A large part of Jesus' ministry was in healing...Jesus was with James and John and went to the home of Simon and Andrew...Jesus had been in the synagogue with them teaching on the Sabbath... Jesus healed Simon Peter's mother-in-law, who was in bed with a fever...As soon as He touched her, she was healed...Her fever left her and she began to wait on them...
That same evening after the sun had set the people brought to Jesus ALL the sick and demon-possessed...The Sabbath was over at sunset and the people started coming to Him...The whole town gathered at the door of Andrew and Peter...Jesus healed many who had various diseases...He also drove out many demons...Jesus did not let the demons speak, because the demons knew who Jesus really was (this implies that most people did not recognize that Jesus was our Messiah)...
Wherever Jesus goes there is good done...He tells us that in this world you will have trouble...But take heart...I have overcome the world (John 16:33)...Jesus heals us...He comforts us...He takes away our pains...He gives us hope...He brings us faith...
The people, that came to St. Peter's home to be healed, had hope and faith...The ill and/or their friends and family had faith they would be healed...They believed He could heal them...There were no delays when He touches one or gives the command, one is healed immediately...
Jesus is always ready to serve us and heal us...The healings that He does during His ministry happen instantaneous...He not only can heal immediately, He can heal those who are persistent in their prayers...He teaches us the power of persistence in His Parable of the Persistent Widow (Luke 18:1-8)...The persistent widow is given justice, by an unjust judge over a period of time...We must be persistent, when we call on Him and pray to Him...
The whole town followed Jesus...His popularity grew and His followers grow...
St. Peter's mother-in-law needed Jesus...His touch healed her...The whole town gathered to watch at Andrew and Peter's house...The ill needed Him...So much is written in the gospels about His healings...All His healing miracles are done with compassion...He loves the world...His compassion is infinite...We must hold on to hope and faith, like those He heals to see the miracles of His ministry and His compassion...
