18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”
21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”
29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.”
Mark 2:17
Jesus Came to Earth for Sinners
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Acts 4:12
Jesus is our Only Salvation
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
Where did "Goodness" originate?...When was the first time some man or woman did good?...Can we be good for a lifetime?...What is the history of goodness?...What is the background and history being on goodness?...What does goodness feel like?...Is goodness and happiness related?...Did goodness evolve out of apes and monkeys or did man start goodness, if you believe in evolution and not in the Creation Story?...
I think goodness is a derivative of LOVE...And when we do something good, we often feel a happiness about ourselves...And goodness comes from God, because Jesus tells us that no one is good except God alone...And for those who believe in Him, they must believe that He is telling us the truth about man and each of us...And what He is telling us is that we are not good, that we do sin -and that we need God's help for our personal nature and being flawed as we are...Jesus is telling us about goodness and that no man on earth is good...God's goodness is from His eyes and from what He believes is good, kind, and gentle -not our point of view but His...And we might think that when we are happy and contented we have been good, or done something good...But these God given goodness-es are from Him and about Him...We maybe happy in a sin that we have done...We can therefore do a non-goodness and still be happy...But goodness maybe less about happiness and more about being a quality or attribute of being good...So our goodness and happiness are not always to be seen and viewed as why we are happy or why we are contented, because we maybe happy and contented by not following His will and His ways...
So it is a very strong statement saying that only God is good...God is LOVE and like LOVE, goodness comes from God...And by saying that only God is good, we can believe that man has been unable to evolve by himself without His help...We are unable to grow out or evolve out of our sinful nature...We need Someone's help for this...And thus our remedy is Jesus...This is one of the reasons He came to earth, and that was that He came to save sinners...He is our salvation...He is our only salvation...
