Romans 10:9-13
Jesus is LORD
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Mark 6:1-6
Few Miracles in His Hometown
1 Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed.
“Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? 3 Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. 4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Believers believe in faith, mercy and the forgiving Power of Jesus...Our cultures today seem to overlook this...Faith, mercy and forgiveness demands as much attention as Love, Truth and Justice...These attributes help describe Jesus...To me, long ago these attributes were very hard to separate and all were included in people's daily lives...But somehow in our intellect and knowledge of science, our modernization, or for other reasons we have separated these things from Jesus and left Him more as a cliche...But He is much more than just a name that has been heard over and over...
Jesus name is in the Bible...What does that mean?...We hear His name, but forget that Jesus is LORD and daily deserving of our praise and our worship...One might believe that those who overlook that He is LORD, or think of Him more of a Man of the Past, or just a Special Man of the Past...If we do not believe that Jesus is LORD, then when we pray, our faith, our forgiveness, our mercy, our love, our belief in justice, and our belief that He is Truth is diluted...Our faith then has become like those of His Own hometown and has been lessened, because we have lessened Him...We will question Him and not believe He can do the things that He can do...And He will be amazed at our lack of faith...
