Mark 2:13-17
Jesus Came for Sinners
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 18:21-22
Forgiving Us When We Sin
21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
Romans 8:26-27
The Holy Spirit Intercedes
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Jesus made it very clear that He came to earth for sinners and to help us with our sins..Men and women sin...Jesus told people, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick...I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”...So we know we make mistakes and sin...And because we sin, we make mistakes in life...We could make the same mistake seventy-seven times and Jesus would forgive us...He would help us, after our stumble...He would want us to learn from our sin (and sins) and pick ourselves up, and be a little more like Him after that...With the Holy Spirit's help we are a little bit better person after each lesson as our faith grows...We learn from our mistakes and our sins...The Holy Spirit is also helping us...The Holy Spirit intercedes for you in accordance with God's will...We seem to sin in life over and over again...And forgiveness is only a prayer away...
C. S. Lewis said it this way, “In the same way a Christian is not a man who never goes wrong, but a man is enabled to repent and pick himself up and begin over again after each stumble--because the Christ-life is inside him, repairing him all the time, enabling him to repeat (in some degree) the kind of voluntary death which Christ Himself carried out."...
