Mark 2:23-28
LORD of the Sabbath
23One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"
25He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."
27Then he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
Jesus teaches us about the Sabbath...God made the Sabbath for man...It was not made to be hard for us...The Sabbath was not meant to be a burden...The Sabbath is made by God...It is sacred and divine...
The Pharisees tried to explain to Jesus that picking and eating grain was work and unlawful and He and His disciples should stop doing it (picking the heads of grain)...Jesus explains to everyone that it is a privilege for man...
We should reflect and think about God...Jesus has authority...He is LORD, even over the Sabbath...And since He is LORD of the Sabbath, He knows what to do on the Sabbath, and what is not supposed to be done on the Sabbath...
