Mark 4:30-34
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
30Again he said, "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. 32Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade."
33With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 34He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
In the beginnings of Jesus' teachings, His followers were very small in number...As He explained His teachings about the LORD, His followers and His kingdom would grow and grow, much like a mustard seed...
I sometimes, maybe often think I have only mustard seed faith...
Jesus tells us that like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all garden, it becomes the largest of all garden plants, which such large branches that birds can perch in its shade...Like the mustard seed, the kingdom of God becomes of greatest importance after growing, and is the greatest of ALL things...
Jesus explained all His parables to His disciples, so they could understand His teachings and the good news He taught...
Like the sowed mustard seed, Jesus sowed His word to His disciples, explaining His teachings in detail...His followers have grown to be great in number, following the King (Jesus), in the greatest of all kingdoms...
