Andrew George Gardner rode one winner under National Hunt rules, having had his first ride at Hereford on November 9, 1982, when Rostuile was unplaced in the Grunwick Stakes National Hunt Flat Race.
Progress was slow, and he appears to have missed one season completely, but he finally enjoyed his sole success on December 2, 1986, back at Hereford, when Track Marshal took the lead at the last flight and ran on to win the Bridstow Conditional Jockeys’ Selling Hurdle by two and a half lengths.
Andrew rode as a conditional for the four-year-old’s trainer Dai Williams and had finished fourth on him at Wolverhampton the previous month. He kept the ride but was not placed in two subsequent starts, nor did he manage to add to his solitary Hereford victory.
