Amanda Jayne Glendinning rode two winners under National Hunt rules in the mid-1980s.
A conditional jockey with Cumbrian trainer Dudley Moffatt, she had her first ride at Cartmel on August 26, 1985, when Pretty Amazing failed to live up his name, trailing in last of 15 runners in the Grunwick N.H. Flat Race.
Her first success came at Ayr on February 13, 1987, when Kelly’s Inn took advantage of the fall of Yellow Bear when leading at the second last flight, coming home a length and a half to the good at the end of the Old Toll Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle.
After finishing fourth at Carlisle on March 13, the combination went to Hexham six days later and landed the Fallowfield Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle by a length and a half. Yellow Bear, the unlucky faller at Ayr, this time completed the course to finish second.
Amanda kept the ride on Kelly’s Inn and was placed three times from four starts. She continued to hold a licence for at least one more season but had no further success.
