Garry Gosney

Garry Gosney, from Towton, Tadcaster, was born on August 11, 1955, and served a six-year apprenticeship with Harry Wragg.


He rode his first winner, Greenacre, at Folkestone on Tuesday, August 8, 1972, and, with seven winners in each, enjoyed his best seasons in 1977 & 1978.


Garry's biggest victory came on 3-1 favourite Street City at Ayr on Saturday, July 15, 1978, when he won the Joe Coral Handicap.


After he retired from the saddle, he became head lad to Alan Berry.


On January 14, 1978, he married Rosemarie Kennington.
