Mark Giles

Mark Stephen Giles, born on October 9, 1951, was apprenticed to Eddie Reavey  for four years: he then served a further year with Clive Brittain and another with Bill O'Gorman.

He rode his first winner, Jackie Little, at Wolverhampton on 30 June 1969, but winners were scarce: the two he rode in 1978 gave him his best season.

Mark became a full-time work rider for Sir Michael Stoute and was responsible for Final Straw during his two seasons in training.

On March 14, 1970, he married Jean Dwight: she gave him a son, Simon Mark.

Mark enjoyed whippet racing.
