LAMORAK :

I wouldn’t have imagined a lady such as yourself would bear such marks.

MORGAN :

So you believe civilians are spared from the fighting, Lamorak?

I’d say they are the ones who suffer the worst of its consequences, if you want my opinion.

LAMORAK :

Really?

MORGAN :

I have many stories about ladies and lordlings who’ve suffered from the horrors of this world…

…this world forged by and for chivalry, honor, feats and strength.

For every person in power, there must be another in their thrall.

LAMORAK :

Are there so many stories?

MORGAN :

An unfortunate lady, enamored with a knight, succumbing to her unrequited love…

…carried away by the stream, powerless to control even her own life.

Another, put under a curse, destined to remain ugly until she was wed…

…a union that should have freed her, yet only locked her into another cage,

condemned to be loved only so long as she is desirable, loathed once her beauty has wilted.

There’s those two fools, two lovers…

Her honor brings her back to the field of battle, again and again.

Their love is but an obstacle to her dignity as a knight.

LAMORAK :

[ sighs ]

That’s a shame…

Is there a story with a happy ending?

Or an unfinished one, perhaps?

MORGAN :

There’s this lady,

heir to a fallen kingdom.

She had power at her fingertips, but fate willed it otherwise.

She was coerced into marrying a conqueror king.

She had no worth save for her beauty.

So she learned to use it.

She became a conqueror too.

But she was young, naive,

foolish for hoping that any attempt to free herself would bear fruit.

Then, misfortune struck again.

Fate offered her a poisoned opportunity.

She took it…

…and everything turned against her.

She was dispossessed, dishonored, destroyed.

She sank into what looked like the perfect opportunity, punished by fate,

and by her own hubris.

It is said she sometimes wanders the world as an ill omen, a banshee,

plotting her revenge,

and that she will not stop until the fire of her vengeance burns itself out,

having destroyed those who destroyed her.

[ whew! cut back to the grail squad. merlin watches the wraith, and spots its heart. ]

MERLIN :

Heh. That’s what I thought.

PERCIVAL :

Galahad!

MERLIN :

Go for its arm!

Its arm!

PERCIVAL :

( Right, its arm!

Those golden weapons…

…are their weak spots! )

BORS :

Defend yourself!

LIONEL :

BORS :

( Is this how it is, then?

Perhaps, somehow…

…it’s always been this way.

Perhaps

I’ve always been quicker to hurt you than the other way around.

“So why, Bors…

…why are you so sad?” )

[ he screams, still holding onto the golden sword. ]

GALAHAD :

 Bors!

Bors, let go!

MERLIN :

Breathe, Bors.

[ bors sniffles. percy bout to fuck up ]

GALAHAD :

Percival!

Percival, no!

ROUND TABLE TRIVIA

Civilians have never been spared from the horrors of war.

Raids and their consequences are part of some kingdoms’ strategies, as they take advantage of civilians’ lack of proper weaponry.

Even though war crimes are very much frowned upon, their limits can remain uncertain, and often dictated only by the warring parties’ cruelty.
